Open gym is a place for drop-in aerial training time that is monitored but unsupervised, meaning there is someone in charge of making sure everyone is following the rules and training safely, but there is no instructor present to direct or correct you. It’s a great time to practice skills you’ve learned in class, gain strength and endurance, work on acts, and hang out with your aerial friends while you train.

Open gym is not the right environment to try to learn new skills or practice skills you feel uncertain on. These things should be done with your coach present, during class or in private lessons.

All equipment and space is shared during open gym; you cannot reserve equipment or pulley points during those hours. If you want guaranteed time on a point or apparatus, contact us about doing a point rental instead.

Open gym sessions range from 2-4 hours. Within those times, you may train as long as you wish – the drop-in rate is just $15/person. Prepaid punchcards allow you to pay for 10 visits in advance at a 10% discount or 20 visits at a 20% discount. Monthly memberships include unlimited open gym visits. Beginners must have completed our ABC series or an equivalent. We reserve the right to deny or postpone access to those we feel are not yet experienced enough to train on their own.

Open gym is primarily an 18+ activity. We will consider allowing access to youth students 16 or older with at least a year of aerial training at VA. For teen students who have trained elsewhere, we require that they take at least a few private lessons or a session of classes with us so that we can be assured of their level of maturity and responsibility.

All open gym users must sign a liability release form. You are encouraged to fill out this form online before you come in – no need to print anything out!
