Act Development & Performance Classes

Act Development & Performance Classes post thumbnail

Thinking about performing in the fall student show this November? We have 3 amazing classes to help!

First is Act Development & Performance Prep for Vertical with Angela Chu. Angela is an experienced performer and instructor specializing in vertical acts:

Angela Chu in NYE Soiree

Angela Chu in NYE Soiree

This multi-level class is aimed at both brand new and seasoned performers who are interested in deepening their act development skills. We will learn musicality exercises, technique for clean lines in the air, and elements of choreography. Students will have the opportunity to develop individual acts and work on group acts (if there is interest). Preparation for an upcoming student show is

encouraged but completely optional! This class is designed to be a safe space for exploration and emphasizes the fact that performers don’t need to have advanced aerial skills to create stunning, impactful acts.

Bio:

Angela comes to the Seattle area from San Francisco, bringing 15 years of experience in aerial silks, as well as sling, aerial chains, dance trapeze, and duo lyra. She first began learning silks in 2009 with Rain and Sarah of the Paper Doll Militia, after randomly seeing them perform. She was immediately captivated, signed up for a class the next day, and has not stopped climbing things since then. Angela strives to make the aerial arts accessible to people of all body types and abilities, and believes that aerialists at any level can create amazing acts; you don’t need to have years and years of experience to create art!

Angela has been teaching and performing silks since 2011, with an emphasis on choreography and act development, including directing showcases at several Bay Area circus studios. She is also a founding member of Dahlias Entertainment, a modern circus company based in San Francisco, and she has performed with The Dahlias, Chrysalis Circus, SUITE Lounge, Intrepid Talent, La Maison Aurora, Entire Productions, Last Wave Productions, Circosphere, and as an independent artist for many events.
