“If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.”
I think it is vastly more difficult to learn how to create than it is to learn how to replicate. In this workshop we will learn how to not only repurpose “skills” we know into our own sequences, but create original work from predefined structure or the ground up. This workshop is designed for full time or casual teachers, curious students, emerging performers, aspiring choreographers and all other aerial dance explorers who long to find their own unique voice through sequencing or performance.
Students can expect to learn traditional methods for material exploration and techniques for execution, my personal process and viewpoints, the role that values play in creating work, finding “voice”, various design elements including: shape, movement quality, tempo, use of space, balance, contrast and texture.
